4 Tips For Diet Accountability

Who can make me stick to my diet?

Do you wish you could just hire someone to follow you all day and slap bad food choices out of your hands? When I was little, I used to think really wealthy people could do things like that, or at the least hire a cook to prepare only healthy foods. In reality I didn't have to wait for that moment; what ended up working was realizing I had to hold myself accountable....to MYSELF! That's how I lost 75 lbs and how Anna lost 150 lbs! We found that sticking to our diet plans day after day is what ultimately resulted in weight loss, not hiring someone in hopes that we would feel pressure to stop making bad food decisions.

Although I have to say, if you’re brave enough, you might just be able to hire Anna to follow you for a day. Check out this TikTok to see her in action when she found me being naughty 🤣 I bet she’ll even let you pick from a “traditional” list of “accountability tools” to motivate you?!

The reality about accountability

I’m a dietitian and get phone calls daily from people wanting me to hold them accountable. I tell them, “sure, I’m always going to be available for you to check in with, but you just need to be the one to email or call me because I can’t be the one to chase you down”. Just like at Weight Watchers- YOU have to be the one to go to the meetings, they don’t come to you and ask you how your last week went! You cannot hire a dietitian, personal trainer, health coach or therapist to keep you accountable. Not in the way that you’re looking for, at least. You will be left alone at some point in your day and need to know that if you make an unwanted decision- you need to be able to live with it, not the person you hired.
